Students and tutors paired up for weekly one-on-one tutoring. Character development as well as fine arts classes are included. Join us for academic enrichment, fun and the chance to make new friends!
Program Details:The One-on-One program is for 4th, 5th and 6th grade girls with average (B-C) range grades, who are academically motivated, but are looking for the supplemental structure and support that will help them achieve.
College and professional women volunteers serve as role models and mentors for the girls. They provide the additional academic support the students need and help them to set goals to improve in school and to grow in the virtues they are learning in the character education classes.
In addition to the one-on-one tutoring, the girls take part in character education classes that cover virtues such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. Fine arts classes in art, drama, and dance serve to provide an opportunity for enrichment and to work together and develop friendships with other girls their age.

Students come for one night a week, Monday or Wednesday from 5:15-8:00 PM, September through May. There are also opportunities for the students to attend field trips scheduled throughout the semester, including activities such as ice skating and trips to museums in the Chicago area.
